Communication this, communication that

I can’t use the word irony often enough. For that, I apologize in advance. But isn’t it ironic that in the era of mass(ive) communication one can still feel alone? Everyday: music, newspaper, a recognizable voice coming from the train station loudspeaker, etc, etc, etc. At the end of the day I stop the music, I close my bedroom door, and I face the screen. Is anyone on the other side who I can talk to? Who is worth talking to? Who actually wants to talk to me?

Yes, I feel lonely at this hour – but I couldn’t just have said that.
